God is already in my today. He is already in my tomorrow. He has gone before me. Nothing that the day can bring – nothing within the hours of tomorrow exist anything that has not already had to pass through Him.
It is easy and somewhat understandable for us to desire a peace-filled life. We desire to live a life of mountain top experiences – where we move from one blessing to the next. Mountain top experiences are filled with beauty. They are filled with joy. They are blessings.
And so are the valleys. While they lack the feeling of blessings, while they often hold hurt and sorrow, it is here that we grow in our intimacy and understanding of who God is.
Make no mistake, God IS in the mountain top experience. He orchestrated it. AND God is in the valleys lowest of points. Walking beside us. Making provision for us. Leading us through.
It is easy to believe that God is with us when things are going good with us, isn’t it? And likewise, when things are difficult, our vision seems to shift inward. We have a harder time seeing God with us.
But God is with us.
“For the LORD will not abandon His people. Nor will He forsake His inheritance.” – Psalm 94:14
“For the LORD will not abandon His people on account of His great name, because the LORD has been pleased to make you a people for Himself.” – 1 Samuel 12:22
The word is filled with God’s promises to never leave or forsake us. If God promises it, it is so. God cannot lie.
“The LORD is the one who goes ahead of you; He will be with you. He will not fail you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.” – Deuteronomy 31:8
Friend, if you are finding yourself on the mountaintop in a time of peace – praise God! But if you are currently in the valley, take heart. We may enjoy God on the mountaintops, but we get to know Him intimately in the valleys.
Blessings!
