I’ll admit it. When life happens – when the bottom falls out – I can struggle to remember that the LORD is for me. It’s not right. In fact, it’s completely skewed thinking… but I’m telling the truth.
My truth isn’t always aligned to God’s truth. My truth is often tied to what I see and what I feel. God’s truth is based on facts and a perspective that exceeds the limited capacity of my mind.
God is for me. He is for me, because He loved me. I am His daughter. His beloved child. He is not for me because I am good. He is not for me because I make good choices or live a sinless life. His goodness is not tied to my goodness, however, any glimpse of goodness in me is absolutely tied to Him.
The LORD is for me.
That means: I have no reason to fear. No reason to be anxious. No reason to worry. No reason to spend sleepless nights trying to come up with a plan to change my circumstances. I have no need to live in the land of crazy-making. The LORD is for me.
“They (followers of God) do not fear bad news; they confidently trust the LORD to care for them. They are confident and fearless and can face their foes triumphantly.” (Psalm 112:7-8) “All you who fear the LORD, trust the LORD! He is your helper and your shield.” (Psalm 115:11)
The LORD is for me.
“I love the LORD because He hears my voice and my prayer for mercy. Because He bends down to listen, I will pray as long as I have breath!” (Psalm 116:5)
In times of great distress and fear I will remember, the LORD is for me.
“In my distress I prayed to the LORD, and the LORD answered me and set me free. The LORD is for me, so I will have no fear. What can mere people do to me? Yes, the LORD is for me; He will help me. I will look in triumph at those who hate me.” (Psalm 118:5-7)
The enemy will do whatever he can to blind me to the truth of who God is and what He has planned for my life. Attacks will come against me, yet I will stand. I will be saved. Not by my might. Not by my strength. But by the mighty hand of my Father. For the LORD is for me.
Blessings!
