God’s Heart For Me

How is it that God’s heart is for me? How can the Holy God of Creation look at me in love and not disgust? I blow it so often. I fail Him. I fall for the selfish temptations of life rather than the standard that God would have me to live by. I sin – and not even new sins – I fall back into the same old ones that I have already been forgiven of! Yet God, in His unmatchable mercy and grace, still has a heart that is for me! Loving me. Caring for me. Choosing me.

It blows my mind. God’s love is unconditional. God’s love is sacrificial. God’s love is eternal.

One of the reasons that I love spending time reading God’s word is because I need to be reminded that someone loves me in that way. Don’t we all? We need to know that someone sees us – actually sees us all the way to our core – and still has a heart that is filled with love for us.

God says: “I have cared for you since you were born. Yes, I carried you before you were born. I will be your God throughout your lifetime – until your hair is white with age. I made you, and I will care for you. I will carry you along and save you.” (Isaiah 46:3b-4)

He created me. He cares for me. He has carried me before I was born and will carry me till my last breath as He ushers me into eternity with Him.

God’s word reminds me. It helps me to remember not only the character of God but helps me to remember how God has been faithful throughout history and in my own lifespan.

God says: “Remember the things I have done in the past. For I alone am God! I am God, and there is none like me.” (Isaiah 46:9)

God, help me to remember what you have done! Help me to remember the multitude of times when you have displayed your greatness in my life! Help me to remember and give you the praise and honor you deserve. LORD, may I never dismiss your handiwork. Open my eyes, prepare my heart and mind, to an awareness of you on a day to day basis in my life. You are always here with me. Help me to be aware of it! Truly, LORD God, there is none like you!

God will not forget me. I may feel forgotten. I may feel alone. My feelings are not accurately reflecting my reality. How do I know?

God says: “Can a mother forget her nursing child? Can she feel no love for the child she has borne? But even if that were possible, I would not forget you! See, I have written your name on the palms of my hands.” (Isaiah 49:15-16a)

God does not forget His children. He cannot. Praise God that He will not!

LORD, guide my mind into a place of peace, trust, hope, and love. Lead me to the places you would have me to go. Take me deeper in my passion for you and my understanding of who you are. Help me to rest in the knowledge and understanding of your incredible heart for me. Expand my heart’s love for you for the rest of my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Blessings!
