This morning as I was reading out of the book of Isaiah I continued to have this theme impressed upon my heart: Things change – circumstances altar – when the God of the impossible shows up.
I don’t know about you, but I need to constantly be reminded of that truth. Sometimes I get stuck in the thought that my situation seems to be without a solution. My focus of what I perceive to be a permanent reality practically paralyzes my thinking. “There’s no fix for this.” “The only way this could be made right is a miracle.”
As if a miracle is unlikely to happen? As if they don’t exist? As if my God’s hand is too short to reach me? As if the God of the impossible is unwilling to arrive on the scene and once again demonstrate His power and love for His children? For me?
There are times when I have planted words, actions, time and energy have been invested, and I desire with all my heart to see change come about. Godly change. Instead of change, I see the same circumstances. The same situation. The same hardness of heart. Whatever it is – a person or situation – it appears that nothing is happening. My efforts are for naught. But they are not! The Word says: “The LORD will greatly bless His people. Wherever they plant seed, bountiful crops will spring up.” (Isaiah 32:20a) What I see with my eyes may appear to be faulty seed, but the reality is quite different. Dormant seed now perhaps, but God will use that seed like the ultimate farmer to grow crops so bountiful that my heart and my mind cannot imagine it. This is what happens when the God of the impossible shows up!
When the God of the impossible shows up the game changes. My situation changes. When God shows up He is the strong arm in my life each day and my salvation in times of trouble. (Isaiah 33:2) He is a sure foundation for all I need, providing me with a rich abundance of salvation, wisdom, and knowledge. (Isaiah 33:6) He provides a wide river of protection that no enemy can cross. He will care for us and save us. (Isaiah 33:31-32) When He comes the impossible happens. “He will open the eyes of the blind and unplug the ears of the deaf. The lame will leap like a deer, and those who cannot speak will sing for joy.” (Isaiah 35:5-6a)
The God of the impossible knows no limits. He is all-powerful. There is no mountain He cannot move. No heart that cannot be softened. No situation that is permanent. No illness that is incurable. This God has the power to defeat any enemy – even death.
Oh friend, may we keep asking and seeking help from the One who has the power to save! May we stop trying to fix situations on our own power and seek help from the God of the “seemingly” impossible. It is in Him that hope can be found!
“Say to those with fearful hearts, “Be strong, and do not fear, for your God is coming to destroy your enemies. He is coming to save you.” (Isaiah 35:4) This is a promise for God’s children – for God-followers. When God promises something, let us not forget, He always keeps His word. The God of the impossible will show up.
Blessings!
